This Masters degree is aimed at graduates who want to use creative practice to design, investigate and interpret urban places.
Students undertake a piece of independent research which explores in depth a topic that is relevant to their interest in place. Under the supervision of a tutor, students develop a methodology and a a theoretical position which contributes to existing research in their field of study.
Dissertation

The module develops research skills such as:
• Defining a research problem
• Writing a research proposal
• Setting the context of research
• Justifiying the purpose of research
• Establishing objectives
• Developing appropriate methods
• Undertaking research

Research methods used can be wide ranging and include practice based research when appropriate.
The course is closely linked to many practices who often suggest research projects for students as a good way into producing practice relevant research outputs
